AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE SITE FOR NORTH ISLAND.

AVELLINGTON, Oct.- 30. Replying to Air Linkwater, the Hon. W. Nosworthy said the Government had not yet considered the question of the site of an agricultural college for the North Island, but would do so as soon as the session was over and Ministers liad time to go into the question. GOLD EXPORT EMBARGO.

In reply to Air AVllford Air Massey said ho was not able to give any encouragement to the suggestion that a Royal Commission b© appointed to go into the question of loss suffered by gold producers owing to the em hargo plac-ccl on the export of gold durino- the war. He twice went into this matter with the Imperial Government when he was in England, but they considered they had no responsibility in the matter They paid the Mint a price for gold and made no profit out of it. Neither Government nor banks at this end ma de -a copper out of tho embargo. ! hej merely carried out the instructions of the Imperial Government. Air AVilford suggested that there might shortly be a new Chancellor of the Exchequer and it might be worth approaching him. Mr Massey admitted the possibility of a change in the Chancellorship but was not inclined to re-open tho matter with Jum ' PUBLIC SERVICE ACT.

In reply to Air AVright Air Massey said much as an amendment to the Public Service Act was needed it could not be passed this session. FIRST READINGS
