ABUSIVE LANGUAGE
TAXI-DRIVER IN TROUBLE
A young taxi-driver named James Alercer appeared in the Police Court yesterday before,Mr. E. C. Levvey, S.M., oil a charge of using abusive language. Tire accused pleaded guilty to tire offence.
According .to Senior-Sergt. Fitzpatrick, Mercer, who had a. carload of yourJg men, was driving along in the rear of the professional road race championship* last Tnursday afternoon. ‘ A milkman named Air. Gray was-'serving customers on the- righthand side of) tho road and crossed over in'front of Mercer’s car, thus impeding progress. Alerter then made use of the expression l with which he- was charged. When approached, Alerter admitted using the language. He was a steady young man of good character and he had stated tliat ho used the ■expression in the heat of the moment. The: Magistrate: It is quite unnecessary to use such language as this. Keep a stilL tongue in your head j*ext time. As you have a good record I’ll let you off lightly; fined £3 and costs.
