Owing to shortage of shipments nf maize from the Coast, says trie Auckland Star of Thursday last, the price of this grain has firmed. An advance took place at Gisborne, and the quotation for maize, in Australia, has also increased. So late in the year merchants are not inclined to risk importing maize from Australia for fear of the weevil, which cannot he killed even if the "rain is put in the freezer. The last simeat of maize from Australia however, arrived in good condition. Another very small" quantity is being brought across from Sydney.
