In an interview, Senator Givens, President of the Commonwealth Senate, said he was most favorably impressed with South Africa. He commented on the futility of settlers ar L riving without capital, thus reversing the position in Australia, where industry carried men n’ong. “Although South African wool may rival Australian in quality,” ho said, “it never will in quantity, owing to the limited grazing area.” Regarding the Asiat : e menace, Senator Givens was emphatic that Australia should have none of it. “Give ns another twelve years,” he said, “and Australia will defy the world. AVo are not going to have the Jap; mese. Australia, is the most British country in the world, and we intend to keep it white, out and out.'
