WRESTLING, BILLY AIEESKA DEFEATS RUSSIAN CHAMPION. (Received Oct. 26. 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Oct, 26. At the Stadium, professional wrestling was revived, when Billy Meeska, a Victorian, defeated Peter Linniltkin, a Russian, on points after an exciting contest. Each secured a fall, the Russian getting the first, but unfortunately he broke a rib, after which, though handicapped, he put up a determined resistance under difficulties. —U.P.A.

In a return match against West Australia, England, in their first innings, made, 397 (Hobbs 17, Whysall 32, Hearne 54, Chapman 44, Douglas 9. Bryan 20, Gilligan 13S. Tate 44. Freeman 8, Strudwick, not out, 16, and Howell 4). The weather was fine and the wicket good. Hearne and Chapman played steady correct cricket. Gilligan and Tate, in a brilliant partnership, put on a century in 63 minutes. Gilligan batted with the greatest freedom, his score including five 6’s and ten 4’s. but the display was marred by several chances. He was at the wicket 130 minutes. Tate also had more than one let-off. The fielding was poor, and with the exception of Blundell, who secured a fine average of five for 59, the visitors made the bowling look easy.—U.P.A.

HANNAN EASILY BEATS ARNST
HAMILTON, Oct. 26
The Australasian sculling championship sculling.race resulted in an easy win for J. Hannan, the holder, oyer Richard Artist-, the challenger. The course was three and a-quarter miles against a four-knot current in the Waikato river. The race was very unexciting. Hannan got the lead at the start and maintained it throughout. Arnst broke a portion out of his right scull, the result of hitting a piece of timber in the early stages of the race, but lie admits it made-no difference to the result. ITannan won by well over twenty lengths. Time: ‘26min 40scc, good time for the course against such a current. P.A. DARCY HADFIELD IN HOSPITAL. MOTOR-CYCLE MISHAP. AUCKLAND, OUt. 26 Darcy Hadficld, holder of the world’s sculling championship title, was admitted toe-hospital' to-day suffering from injuries to, the head andbody, the extent not being yet known. He‘was motor-cycling at Mormngside and in endeavoring to pass two mo-tor-cars his machine was touched l one, causing him to fall. P.A.
