ADELAIDE, Oct,' 24. lin the Legislative Assembly, the Treasurer in his Budget speech, raid tho deficit for the year, was £53,289. He estimated a surplus for the coming year of £9989. The accumulated deficit was £1,592,488, and the public debt £70,100,164, or £152 per head of population, an increase of £ll for the year. It was proposed to increase tho general exemption from the income tax. from £l5O to £2OO, also to ibeveass the deduction for children frtm £3O to £SO where the incomes do not exceed £650. Ihe loss will he made up by an increased land tax.
