BIG CAMP AT OPOTIKI AT XMAS

A meeting of the executive committee of the Boy -Scouts’ Association was held on Tuesday evening last, Dr. Bowie (District Commissioner) presided. It was resolved that a. Pack ol “ Wolf Cubs” (junior scouts) be formed, boys of 7 to 11 years of age being accepted. On reaching the latter ago, they automatically became “Boy -Scouts.” The uniform will he navy blue shorts and jersey, green cap with yellow piping, blue ‘stockings with regulation tabs. Parades of these young boys will be advertised, and names for enrolments can be handed to Commissioner Bowie, Mr F. Roberts, c/o Common Shelton and Co., or the secretary.

A letter from the Opotiki Boy Scouts’ Assn, was received, inviting the Gisborne Boy Scouts to attend their annual camp for eleven days, commencing 26th December next. The invitation was accepted with thanks and, already, fifty bo.ys have handed their names jn to go. In view of this it was decided not to hold the usual annual camp in Gisborne. The occasion will be a memorable one, as it will bo tbo largest gathering of scouts that has ever been held m the East Coast district.

Arrangements for the transportation of the Gisborne Scouts to Opotiki are in hand, and they will be in charge of Scoutmaster Baker. As the local boys are to be the guests of the Opotiki Association, only a .'nominal charge, is being made 'to each boy assist in the cost of tnkin gthem to-and from Opotiki. The journey will be made by train from Gisborne to Motuhora and then by motor' conveyance through trie beautiful bush scenery of the MotuOpotild district. Applications for enrolment in the Bov Scouts can be made to Mr Baker,; of Messrs Williams arid Kettle’s staff, or at the Parish Hall, Derby St., on Friday evenings,' also" to the RFv. _Mr Puddle, Mangapap, on Monday evenings. -
