New.s was .received from Matawai on Saturday that a bushiellingfatality iiuu oc-curretl at- Mr Riddick’s station, about four miles from Matawai. at 1 o’clock on Saturday afternoon. The victim was a well-known Gisborne man named Charles Cate. He was engaged in felling bush, when a. limb came down end stnrk him on me head. A party hf. Matawai at 5 o'clock on Saturday afternoon to bring in the hotly, and reached Air Cunningham’s about 7 o’clock on Saturday night.
