RAILWAY TO TAUPO.
PROPOSED ROTORUA ROUTE. PETITION TO PARLIAMENT. Bv Telegraph—Special Correspondent WELLINGTON, July 23. The report of the Native Affairs Committee on the various petitions asking for the construction of a railway from Rotorua to Taupo and suggesting the imposition of a special rate upon the lands that would thereby be bon fitted, was presented to the House yesterday by Air Young, chairman of the committee. The recommendation of the committee was that the petition 'should be referred to a special committee. Air W D. S. Alncdonald (Bay of Plenty) gave notice to move that, in accordance with the recommendation of the committee, a special committee be appointed to consider the petition, such special committee to consist of the Hon. Dr Poniare. Hon A. T. Ngata, Messrs Forbes. Young, Parr, Buick, Mander and the mover. The Prime Alinistor suggested that, as the Crown was concerned, the Alinister for Public AYorks should be a member of the committee. Air Aiaedonald said that he would add the name of the Alinister and Mr Poland to bis motion,
