ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS.

A serious accident hapuened at the level railway crossing at King Street, Newmarket,' this afternoon. _ Robert Barber, baker and confectioner of Karangaliape Road, wlio was driving a trap out of town to his farm in the country, went by way of Newmarket and, at the King Street crossing, which has been the .scene of a number of bad accidents on previous occasions, his conveyance was run into by the incoming' Kaipara train at about half-past four. The horse was killed instantly and the vehicle was smashed into matchwood. Barber was thrown out and was severely injured. Be was unconscious when picked up and was at once taken to the hospital. INVERCARGILL, July 21. The police have received word that Robert Henderson, aged 70, of independent means, dropped dead this evening while playing billiards at Wai kahi.
