HOSPITAL BOARD.
MONTHLY ATEETING
The monthly meeting of the Cook Hospital and Charitable Aid Board wa-s held last night. There were present: Messrs M. Kemvay (chairman), T. Holden, R. Johnston, G. K. Jones, W. J. McCHskie, H. Ih Bright, G. AV. Humphreys, T. Jcx-Blake, I)r W. B. Dorter.
T he Town Clerk wrote, acknowled" illg tiie receffi 4 UOTHTS (U.'Uiil!!;! requisitioning £1389 19s (id as t-IIV Borough’s, contribution for hospital purposes for the current year. He .viated that lie bad been instructed by the Council to state that they considered the amount of £13.089 for hospital requirements for the year was on the high side, and might probably includo capital expenditure. They would, therefore, bo glad to be supplied with a copy of the estimates. 'The Clerk of the Mangapupa Town Board acknowledged receipt of the Hospital Board’s demand for £ll2 17s lid, and asked to be supplied with a detailed statement of the estimates.
Air Jones said lie considered that copies of the levies should be placed In the hands of members. The Chairman said that it had been decided that in future, before the levies were ma.de, the members of the Board should lie tailed together, and decide upon- them. It was only fair that members should be in possession of all particulars. Tim Afedica! (Superintendent (Dr Ih Kohlenberg) reported: “Patients remaining in hospital on 12th June, 1915, 71 ; patients admitted from 12th June to lOtli July, 50; patients discharged,'s9; patients died, 6: patients remaining in hospital on 10th July, 56: operations and anaesthetics, 22.” The report on the amount of patients’ fees collected was as follows; i’atieiils’ fees paid during the month, £12!) 13s 10;l ; patients’ fees outstanding for the month/£453. 19s; patients’ fees accrued during the month, £283 12s 10(1. The Chairman reported on the septic tank, boilers, and laundry at the hospital. He stated that tliework in connection with the septic tank was being carried out by day labor, and good progress was being made. Air J. Brown had kindly visited the hospital, an® reported on defects of the laundry plant. Air Tloare, manager of the Gas Co., had also reported on the installation of a complete gas plant at a oost_of £2BO- - were waiting for the Government expert to arrive from "Wellington, when these matters could he submitted to him.
It was resolved to thank Air Brown for the valuable services he had rendered to the laundry plant, and also for his report. GENERAL BUSINESS.
Dr Collins moved tiiat in future all reports of the works committee and and visiting committee be made in writing.

Dr Collins said that circumstances had arisen at the hospital, without the- knowledge of the Board, necessitating the laying down of by-laws for the guidance of the medical superintendent, the honorary consulting staff, and the honorary surgical and medical staff. tie moved that the Chairman and Ales.sr.s Bright, JcxBiake, and the mover be appointed a sub-committee to draw up such bylaws.
