A MISHAP THAT NEVER HAPPENED. (Press Association Telegram.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 15. Excitement was caused at Lyttelton this morning by a man who informed the police that his mate, had been murdered in his “bach.” The police, after making arrangements for the removal of the body, visited the house, but found that the man was only sound asleep. The first man "was then arrested on a charge of drunkenness. ACCIDENT AT HUNTLY AIINE. HAMILTON, July 15. Air John Lloyd, who had both tlugns fractured and sustained other injuries by a fall of coal at Huntlv mines on Tuesday, died in the 'Waikato hospital. W AGG ON-DdHVER FOUND droavned. TE KUITI, July 15. James Paget, a middle-aged man, a waggon-driver, was found drowned m the Alokira River, Piopio. He had been missing since Sunday. RAN OVER BY A TRAIN. AVA'NGANUI, July 15. Henry Tru, a Russian Finn, a- seaman, was shockingly, mutilated by being run over by a train last evening, and died in the hospital at <3 ay. SUICIDE IN THE OPEN SEA AT NAPIER. NAPIER, July 15. A man named T. J. Stevenson walked into the open sea off the beach this afternoon and was drowned. Atter being in the water for about fifteen minutes, lie was brought to beach by the aid. of a lifeline. Efforts to restore animation were unsuccosslui'. Deceased, who was practically unknown in Napier, had boon here for a few days only. Ho told the licensee of the 'hotel at which lie was staying that ho was chief engineer at the Tokomaru Bay freebing works and had iuvst undergone a surgical operation in AVcllington.
