THE TIMBER INDUSTRY. CritESS ASSOCIATION TELEGSAM.) AYEULINGTON, July 15. A -deputation representing the United Federation of Timber AVorkers waited on the Prime-Minister to-day, to bring under llis notice certain matters affecting the timber industry. Mr Vcale {Auckland) urged the establishment of a State sawmill at Auckland. He also urged that surprise visits should be made by inspectors at more frequent intervals, and declared that unfair competition was caused by the importation of sashes, doors, and laths. Mr Massey said that State sawmills would have been in operation now but for the war.. He agreed, that the importation of sashes, etc., seemed unfair, and promised carefully' to consider points raised by the deputation. SOLICITOR STRUCK OFF THE ROLL. The Appeal Court made absolute an order to strike AV. G. H.. Baillie off the roll of solicitors of the. Supreme Court of New Zealand, with 15 guinea costs and dfeburscmeaits.
