FURTHER APPOINTMENTS MADE
Last night tlie usual weekly parade , of members of the Poverty Bay branch of the New Zealand National Reserve was held in the Garrison Hall. There were close on two hundred members of A Company present under the command of Major Wliitoley. The company were put through a number,of evolutions by iSergt.-Major McLoughlin, the whole parade lasting an hour. This will be the usual length of the parade each week. During an interval Capt. J. Tombleson was elected second in command of A Company. The following acting officers and non-com missioned officers ha ve been appointed by the officer commanding: No. 1 platoon commander, Lieut. AZachariah; No. 2 platoon, Lieut. R. Cole; No. 3 platoon commander, Lieut. C. A. Fenwick;.No. 4 platoon commander, Lieut. G. B. Oman; company sergeant-major, J. T. McLough-. Jin; company quarter-master-sergeant, E. W. Harvey; No. 1 platoon sergeant, J. Daly; No. 2 platoon sergeant, J. C. E. Turner; No. 3 platoon sergeant, 'l l . B. Gardner; No. J platoon sergeant, T. Arnold; No. 1. platoon section commanders, E. G. Cowles, J. Pirie, J. E. Bridger, G. (J. Breiere; No. 2, 0. Ferris, G. W. Whitcombe, P. Mitchell, H. C. Cornish; No. 3. V. L. Ensor, J. B. Rosamond, C. M. Salmon.'G. A. Holmes: No. 4, \V. McGuffie, E. Scarfe, E. J. Tom, J. R. Nicholls. Appointments of non-' commissioned officers are temporary, pending the passing of an examination in two months’ time. R. Stevenson has been appointed drummer to Platoon No. 1. Tho formation of B wompany is proceeding apace. Lieut. IT. H. do Costa is at present short of enrolment forms, but more will arrive from Wellington in the course of a dav or two. In the meantime anyone desirous cl joining is asked to. hand their names to the secretary or to any of Die officers or non-commissioned officers of A Company . Intending members may parade each Thursday, and can sign their enrolment forms when they arrive. .Parades are called for each Thursday evening at 7.30 o’clock in the Garrison Hall. Those desirous of obtaining non-commissioned 'ark are paraded each Monday evening at Barlow’s motor garage, Peel Street, at 7.30 o’clock.
