ACTIONS FOR ALLEGED LIBELS AGAINST “TRUTH.”
TOTAL OF £IO.OOO CLAIMED. (Press Association Telegram. :■ WELLINGTON, July 14. A writ has been issued by Findlay, Dalziell, and Howard, anting on liehalf of the Bank of New Zealand, against the proprietor of the “New Zealand Truth,” claiming a- total of £IO,OOO damages for alleged libel. There are understood to be two distinct actions. The one is for £SOOO in respect to a criticism of toe bank's balance-sheet and report and it#- administration. appearing in the paper referred to published on 19th June, and signed “Cambist.” The other i» for a like amount in respect to a contents bill advertising the said issue o? “Truth,” and bearing the words: “Bank of New Zealnd: a position or extreme gravity.”
