The secretary of the Queen Carnival Committee has received the following letter from the chairman of the Citizens’ Defence Committee: —A our letter of the lOtli inst., enclosing cheque for £21,202 3s sd, being net proceeds of the Queen Carnival, v,a n laid before my committee at ito meeting yesterday. I .was desired to convey to your executive and to all those willing'workers who contributed to the success of the Carnival the sineeio thanks and congratulations of my committee. ! hat such a magnificent net result could have 1 men attained with such a moderate outlay in the matter of expenses speaks volumes for th<' care and consideration displayed by your executive in cn.i> ing out the good work. My <L>inmittee desires me further to say Jiat they will be pleased to see that tne various items which have hems ipwjally earmarked on behalf or Jie jund.i mentioned in your letter will have strict attention and that your desire to see that a further sum of £{ o.ooo devoted to the Wounded holders Fund will also be complied with, aml that This request coincides exactly with tne views or the D is earnestly hoped that the rehei «nl be administered in a manner that v. ill cause satisfaction to all who have con tributed and labored so untiring!y tobring about such a splendid result.
