LONDON MARKETS. HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. (Press Association Telefir-ani WELLINGTON, July 12. Following is the High Commissioner’s cable, under date London July 10. (Note : Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average’ market prices on spot): Mutton. —Tlie Government is regulating meat supplies and only a small quantity is available for the general public, but the market is steady with little alteration in prices. Canterbury 7fd for light weight, North Island 7Jd for light weight. Lamb.—A fair demand continues, but is chiefly for light weight. Canterbury two’s 8-ld, heavy weight fours B'd, other than Canterbury Sgcl for light weight. Beef.—Prime New Zealand beef cannot be quoted. A small supply of cow beef is selling at: Hinds 7 Jd, fores 6;fd. j There is a moderate supply of chilled beef. Chilled binds Sil'd, fores 7.1 d. Butter.—The market is quiet, hut steady. Best quality, for which a good demand continues, is scarce, but there is a large supply of second class quality. A report is current here that a quantity of low grade Siberian and French butter has been put in cold store. Danish is quiet at 155 s to 15Ss. There is no New Zealand butter offering. For Australian there is a moderate demand at 138 s to 140 s. For Siberian there is a good demand at 128 sto 1325.. Crest creamery is slow, except for finest at 140 s to 112 s, Argentine unsalted 140 s to 1425. Cheese. —The market is very quiet, and prices are irregular and also are declining all round on account of large supplies coining forward, buyers holding hack and holders being anxious to sell. Canadian is slow, white and colored Sis Jo SSs; New Zealand is quiet, colored 90s to 925, white 91s to S3s, English is firm at 98s to 102 s, Australian"is slow, colored 86s to 88s, white SSs to 90s; State butter is dull I, white and colored 82s to 86s, according to quality and size. Wheat. —The market is quiet, but steady. Canadian July-August 53s 6(1 • American July-August 465. Oats.—The market is quiet; Argentine, July-August 24s 6d. Scheelite. — Blivkwell’s quotation for schcelite on 9th July was 50s. LONDON WOOL SALES. ’ Dalgetv and Co.. LtcL, have received a cablegram from their head office to the effect that on the 9th July all good wool' was soiling excellently, shabby crossbreds and Inferior faulty merinos were irregular, olten -VI lower.
