RIFLE SHOOTING.
TOKOMARU COM PETITIONS
(From Our Own Correspondent.) 'TOKOMARU BAY, July 9. Owing to the weather conditions, shooting- at tho local range has had to be postponed for about a month*. On Thursday last practice was again resumed. Mr. J. Reay generously gave in his rifle to tho club for competition amongst the mombers who do not possess a rifle. This competition was commenced on Thursday, and will he conc-ludbd on Saturday. There are about ten entries, and the shoot, which is a handicap one, provides for seven shots at the 500 and 600 yards ranges. A handicap sweepstake was shot on Thursday at these ranges, and the scores put up were the best that have been .scored at these distances for tho season. Tho sweepstaka was won by J. Wilson, with 31 at 500 and 29 at 600. The following are tho scores: —
