Arch.de; •••n Boyce pointed out that the late c-l<v . g hours led t-o excessive drinking, fig. : . brawls, and immorality. The Archbishop of Sydney said ‘t was evident Australia was leading t campaign against excessive drmkui. . There was no reason way the sale < drink should not cease at 6 in the evening like other commodities. The Rev. Simmons said any politician who failed to realise the temper ot the people at the present hour, which had shown itself in favor .of rerorm. would sink into oblivion. Air. Hall replied that he favored nationalisation as a short- cut to prohibition. He promised to make representation.- on early closing to the Cabinet as strongly as possible.
