PERSONAL NOTES.
A wire was received yesterday afternoon from 'Wellington stating that Sapper William Benson, of Gisborne, is progressing favorably in Fort do lvoubla Hospital, Cairo. Mr and Mrs Ashworth, of Temple Street, have had a further cable with regard to their son, Private Itobt. Ashworth, who was wounded in tho stomach at the Dardanelles. Private Ashworth’s • many friends will be pleased to hear he is convalescent at Pembroke Camp, Malta.
A P.A. message from Wellington states that the election of Mr Eugene Casey to succeed Mr R. M. Isaacs as First Division representative on the Railways Superannuation Fund Board is gazetted. The poll was as follows : Eugene Casey 456 votes, Charles P. Ryan 443, Henry P. Stan away 120, Frederick C. G. Huso 113. Mr Walter Leslie, for many years a member of Hansard staff, and wellknown as an artist and pressman, died at Wellington last night (reports a P.A. message). He was 60 years of age and had been in failing health for some time. In tho early montjis of the war Mr Leslie took a great i - terest in the National Reserve movement and was general-secretary in Wellington.
