RIFLE-SHOOTING.
Tlie following members of the Gisborne Rifles have been selected to go into training for the New Zealand Rifle Association meeting at Trentham: —Captain ißeere-. Sergts. Breiugan, Taylor, and Ibi it, Corporals Higlram, Holmes, Lance-Oorpl. Lainey, Privates Allan, Cannon, and Kingston. The final team of seven will Toe picked from the above. ‘V unique shooting competition is to be initiated by Captain Beere m connection with the Gisborne Rifles firing contest at the Kaiti range to-day. Competitors will be graded on the ground, and will fire off m pairs, a strong shot with a weak one. In the event of an odd man lie will be awarded- double score. The ranges will be 200, 500, and 600 yards, seven shots and a compulsory sighterg Cash prizes, according to the number of competitors, will be awarded. .in conjunction with the above, a special match will be fired njuongst secondclass shots for a pair of binoculars presented by (Private .Kingston. There are to bo five competitors or no prizewill be awarded.
