LAND SETTLEMENT.

THE OULVERDEN ESTATE. [Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 28. A ballot for the township sections of the' Oulverden estate was conducted at the lUtnd -Office this morning. The Department had submitted for application 29 sections, but only eleven applications were put?in. The following were the successful applicants at the ballot: —No. 2: Two applicants, half-acre, Ellon Jane Barnes (Oulverden); No. 14: Five applicants, t acre 1 rood 31 perches, J v as. J. Bell, Hawurden; No. 43: One applicant, 3 acres, Oscar Anderson (Hanmcr); No. 16’: One applicant, 2 acres 1 rood 12 perches, Wm. John Cardwell (Oulverden); No. 51: One applicant-, 6 acres 2 roods 26 porches, John Cardwell (Oulverden); No. 35: One applicant, 2 roods, Archibald J. Clark (Moturau). It' is probable that several other sections will he selected within a few days. The land is being offered -under the renewable lease system.
