ADDINGTON WORKSHOPS.
STATEMENT BY THE MINISTER FOR- RAILWAYS. (Press Association.) CHRIST CHURCH, Jan. 29. Yesterday a telegram, signed jointly bv Messrs Laurenson, Ell, Witty, Russell, and Davey, Al.B. s, was despatched to the lion. -J • A. Alular, minister of Railways, asking Jam to make the inquiry into the charges against the employees at- the Addington railway workshops as public -as possible, «o that the people of the Dominion would be able to decide whether or not the charges were groundiless. The following reply was received: “Re inquiry at Addington, it is proposed to hold a public inquiry, not a Government one. It will lie held by persons altogether outside the railway service, and will be open to the press. .1 think you will agree that it cannot- be more public than this, and when the details are published I think you will! be satisfied. — J. A. Millar.”
