TARIFF COMMISSION’S REPORT. THE ENGINEERING INDUSTRY. United Press Association, Copyright LONDON, Jan. 28. The Tariff Commission’s report on the engineering industry states that 77 firms replied that they are not affected by foreign competition in the home market. In 300 products the foreign tariffs, especially those of France, Germany., the United States, and Central Europe, seriously interfered with exports in many branches of engineering, hut where colonial preference operated upon engineering products it had been of great benefit. IRISH HOME RULE. WARNING TO CONSERVATIVE UNIONISTS. LONDON, Jan. 2S. Lord Londonderry, in a speech at Belfast, warned the Conservative Unionists that if extremists placed fiscal views in the forefront, overlooking ihe dangers of Home Rule, the result of next election would he (serious to the party, anil full of danger to Ireland.
