ABYSSINIAN AFFAIRS.
ILLNESS OFk'KING MENELIK. SEBIOUS CONSEQUENCES FEABED. United Press Association. Copyright PARIS, Jan. 27. It is reported that King Menelik, ruler of Abyssinia, is seriously ill. It is feared that his death would cause serious trouble. [King Menelik, who succeeded to the throne' of Abyssinia in 1889, was born in 1842. He was formerly King of Shea, and has proved himself a strong and able ruler. He has done much to develop his country on civilised lines, and his death would probably tend to retard tho progress of the country- Ho lias no direct heir.]
