It is feared that his death would cause serious trouble. [King Menelik, who succeeded to the throne' of Abyssinia in 1889, was born in 1842. He was formerly King of Shea, and has proved himself a strong and able ruler. He has done much to develop his country on civilised lines, and his death would probably tend to retard tho progress of the country- Ho lias no direct heir.]
