The Labor party’s conference at Portsmouth is sitting, Mr. lieir Marche presiding. Mr. Philip Snowden jfclcmandod that the cost of dealing with poverty should rest on unearned incomes. On the motion of Mr. Ramsay Macdonald, a resolution was carried opposing increased taxation on the masses, and urging a super-tax on large incomes, special taxes on State-con-ferred monopolies, increased State legacy duties, and a substantial beginning of taxation on land values.
