Mr. Emil G. Snog, who in 1884 was aoooiiitcd Vice-Consul Tor Denmark and nine years later Consul for Denmark for the South Island, died today. He .arrived at Napier in 1875, wlirre be remained till 1881, when he came to Christchurch, where lie was assistant manager for Cook and Ross’ chemist’s business till 1893,when he became manager. He has acted as examiner under the Pharmacy Board, and was a prominent Mason. He was born in Copenhagen an 1848. and hold a commission as lieutenant in the Danish .army.

The death of Mr. Donald AlcLeunon, of West IMelton, which took place at an early hour this morning, removes another of the fast diminishing band of old colonists. Born at Strath bran, Ross-shire, Scotland,, on January 11, 1829, tho ikte Mr. AlcLennon was brought nap to pastoxii.l pursuits, 'and, from .an early age, showed an interest in live stock, of •which he wa.s 'an- oxcelleift judge. In 1862 die (arrived in Lyttelton by the ship Mystery, and since that time be remained in ' Canterbury. On his arrival in New Zealand lie entered the employ of the late 'Messrs John, Allan and" (Robertson McLean, of .the Walmakariki, Waiklakabi, Lagmbor, and (Morve-n IJiHils stations, and for a time resided at the first-named, near Yardliurst. Later ho removed to Lagmlior, and from 1863 till 1884 was in charge of the out .station* at tho Hinds. .'ln the hitter year lie purchased a property at West .'Melton, where fie resided till the time of his 5 death. Pneumonia, was the immediate oil use- of death. He was father of Air. Donald McLennon, agricultural editor of the “Cn.nte.rbury Times,” land of a large family, grown up.
