A RECORD-BREAKING ATTEMPT POSTPONED.

The attempt which was to Rive been made to-day to lower the paced cycling record from Christchurch, to Dunedin had to be postponed, one of the motor cyclists who had agreed to pace A. Humm over the journey failing to fulfill his agreement. A CYCLING ROAD RACE.
POLICE PROSECUTION— I.N’FO.R - MATRIX DISMISSED. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan 20. On December 12th, 1908, a cycle road race was run between Rieear ton .and Leeston, via Springton, and back. The three placed men were proceeded against by the police, under the Police Offences Act, for having driven their bicycles furiously along the main road. The hearing of the informations, which charged John Tozer, G. Mhcgloin. and H. Gellattley with the above offence, took place on the 19th inst,, Mr. Russell appearing for will three defendants. At the Magistrate's Court this morning, Air. H. AY. /Bishop, S.M., gave judgment on the eases, and said that lie had carefully considered the matter and was of opinion that the facts as stated did not constitute an offence under the section -of the Police. Offences- Act under which the informations were laid. The informations were then dismissed.
