RIFLE-SHOOTING.
CIRCULAR FROM THE ASSOCIATION. [PRESS Association.] WELLINGTON, Jan. 26, Colonel Collins, the executive officer of-the New Zealand Defence Forces Rifle Association, has sent the following circular to every rifle club and volunteer corps in the Dominion:— “The Executive Council of the New Zealand Defence'Forces Rifle Association is desirous of encouraging a keener competition in the teams matches, and with that object in view has arranged a series of matches for the next meeting at Trentham, which arc open to every volunteer company and rifle club in New Zealand,' and the Council hopes to see every company and club represented. Six matches, as under., have been placed on theprogramme, -and £l3l in cash prizes have been allotted to this series of matches. Thirteen to seventeen are open to teams of six men with a commander, who shall not, firo in the match. Eighteen to twenty teams of five men of all ranks may compete, and the inclusion of the same men throughout is not necessary. £3 per team is the entrance foe for the matches. A unit can enter one or more teams. Match,_l3, section firing, £lO prize ; 14, cover firing, £10; 15 surprise service target, £10; 16. rapid firing, £10; 17, Colonial Ammunition Co.’s, £10; IS, champion teams, £57 10s: teams championship,_ £24. The five teams making the highest total aggregate points in the above matches will be .awarded the prizes in the teams championship.
