THE CHERNIAVSKI RECITALS

[To thk Editor.]

Sir, —I am sorry to trespass on your space on the above. Though many can regret the wasting of many shillings on entertainments in Gisborne, and look back with pleasure on a few occasions when the money was well spent, the present occasion, to my (mind, is one of the few, during the years of my residence here, when such a genuine treat has -been offered to the Gisborne public. There are, very many devotees of music in Gisborne. many of whom have not thought it worth while to attend. The money thus spent would be a fine lesson, and might serve to inculcate an individuality in the music performed, or else perform tho equally good service of showing them the possibilities of the much maligned classical music.—l am, etc., E. N. SI.DEBOTTOAI.
