COMMONWEALTH POLITICS

THE VICTORIAN ELECTIONS.

THE BENT MINISTRY’S INTENTIONS.

United Press Association. Copyright

MELBOURNE, Dec. 15

The Bent Ministry . has decided to place itself in the hands of the party after the election. If the party prefers a particular leader he will be given a free hand in the formation of a Ministry.

THE QUEENSLAND DISSOLUTION THE GOVERNOR’S ACTION. BRISBANE, Dec. 15. In the Legislative Assembly, answering the question whether the Governor had received a reply from the Earl of Crewe to the resolution passed last session dealing with the Governor’s action in granting a dissolution, Mr. Kidston said that the House had made no representations to the Home authorities on the subject. The Governor had forwarded the resolution to the Earl of Crewe, and had received a confidential reply. The fact that the Governor had not been recalled indicated that the Homo authorities approved of his conduct. LONDON, Dec. 15.

Colonel Seely states that he has heard nothing regarding dissatisfaction with the Governor of Queensland’s action in granting a dissolution. It was not unfair to surmise that the newspaper paragraph expressing dissatisfaction was the result of confusion of the political party issue involved with that of the Governofr’is constitutional (position.

(Received Dec. 16, 8.25 p.m.)

LONDON, Dec. 16

Colonel Seely’s statement yesterday referred to the Governor of Victoria granting Sir Thomas Bent a dissolution, and not to the Queensland dissolution.
