ROWING.
POVERTY BAY ROWING CLUB. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of tlie committee of the Poverty Bay Bowing Club was held last evening, Mr. F. Seymour in the chair. A telegram wa s received from the club’s representative in Wellington conveying the information *that one of the four-oar boats was ready for shipping. An invitation was received from the Wairoa Bowing Club, asking that crews be sent to the annual regatta. The handicapper was instructed to declare the handicaps for the double sculling race this evening, the first heat to be rowed on Wednesday evening. The Club decided to arrange a single sculling contest for a trophy presented by .an unknown donor. A general meeting of the club will be held on Friday evening to consider the proposal for building a new shed.
GISBORNE ROWING CLUB. Two semi-final heats were rowed off last evening for the trophies presented; for trial fours by Sir. Hennessy to the Gisborne Rowing Club. P. Hamilton’s crew beat H. Pufiett’s by a length and a-lialf, and Williams’ crew heat Hansen’s by a half-a—length after a hard race.
