DISCOVERY OF DIAMONDS
BERLIN, Dec. 13
Herr Dernburg gave tho Reichstag details of the discovery of diamonds at Luderitz Bay. He declared they would easily be able to obtain 500 carats daily with the proper appliances.
TURKISH STEAMER FOUNDERS
CONSTANTINOPLE, Dee. 13
A Turkish steamer, bound from Constantinople to Sevastopol, foundered. TlTe crew and fifty passengers were drowned.
DYNAMITE EXPLOSION—ONE HUNDRED CASUALTIES.
NEW YORK, Dec. 13
By an explosion of forty tons of dynamite at Basobispa, on the Isthmus of Panama, one hundred people were killed or seriously injured.

Members of Masonic bodies generally deny Cardinal Moran’s charges against Freemasonry, on the grounds that they are absurd and opposed to fact. 1

Lord Dudley was en route to the Ballarat review, when the motor car broke down. He hailed a ballast engine, and finished the journey, standing on the footplates with a number of workmen.
THE HERO-SUVA COLLISION

SYDNEY, Dec. 14
The Vice-Admiralty Court gave judgment to-day in the cross actions brought by the A.U.S.N. Co. and Fenwick and Co., respectively owners of the s.s. Suva and the is.s. Hero, in connection with the collision between these two vessels on August 28th. Each side claimed £4OOO damages. The Court found the Hero solely to blame for the collision, and ordered ■an assessment of the damage sustained by the Suva, this, with costs of the action, to be paid by the owners of the Hero. > FIRE IN SYDNEY. AN UNLUCKY VENTURE. ADELAIDE, Dec. 14. A steam trawler chartered by Scottish fishermen to open up the trawling came to grief on her first expedition. • She went ashore on Saturday aV Morgan’s Beach, Cape Jervis, and became a total wreck All kapds were saved.
