ANNUAL COLLECTIONS

WELLINGTON, Dec. 13
The annual hospital collection promoted by the city bandsmen was taken in tho streets yesterday and to-day. During yesterday morning and afternoon, boxes were held by about 30 ladies, and in the evening by the Nava Is, Highlanders, and other men. The amount returned for yesterday’s efforts totals £ll4 9s. 9d, which is nearly £IOO less than the receipts for (Saturday last time. In addition to the boxes in the streets there were about SO placed in the city hotels, which will not be opened for a few days. This afternoon a largely-attended demonstration was held at the Basin Reserve, when tho boxes were out again. The totals will not be made up until to-night. Eight bands attended and played. The Hon. C. M. Luke, Chairman of the Wellington Hospital! Trustees, delivered an address. He mentioned that the immediate demands upon the Trustees would be from £20,000 to £30.000.
