THE IMMIGRATION POLICY

CONDEMNED BY AUCKLAND TRADES COUNCIL.

[Press Association.]

AUCKLAND, Dec. 9. Some time was spent bv the Trades and Labor Council to-night in discussing the immigration policy of the Government. The majority of the speakers expressed disapproval at the importation of immigrants into New Zealand on the ground that there was no work for them when they got here. It was stated that people were induced to throw up billets in the Old Country by flattering representations made of the prosperity in the Dominion, only to find when they got here that the ranks of labor in their particular line were overcrowded. A ■inolion was carried by which the secretary was instructed ter draw tip a circa far letter on the subject for publication in the English newspapers.
