A severe, shock of earthquake was felt at Crow’s Nest, lasting lor .three seconds. No damage was done, but it created consternation among the residents.
SHARP SHOCKS AT CHEVIOT

CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 8. A sharp shock of earthquake, lasting several seconds, occurred at 11.55 a.m. There was no damage done. Cheviot reports two severe shocks, one at 6.45 a.m. and the other at 11.55 a.m. They. were accompanied by a low rumbling, ,and greatly alarmed the residents of the township. Chimneys fell at Hawkswood. At Mendip Hills articles in the homestead were broken. Hanmer also reports two shocks. TIMARU, Dec. 8. A faint shock of earthquake was felt hero at 11.55 a.m. to-day. .SHOCK AT NELSON. NELSON, Dec. S. A sharp shock of earthquake aas experienced here at 11.55 a.m. It was accompanied by light rain, and there was a hail squall.
