The Daily Mail reports that a surprise test of speed in the mobilisation .of the territorial forces was executed at Essex yesterday, and was a complete success. RELIEF OF VETERANS.

MUTINY OF A TURKISH REGIMENT.. CONSTANTINOPLE; Doc. 7. A Turkish regiment mutinied at Kiupulii. The soldiers retired to the barracks, which loyal troops surrounded. During a fight an officer and six. loyalists were killed, and an officer and ten mutineers were wounded before the latter surrendered.

The City Improvement Committee is recommending the extensive resumption of property. It states that at the present rate of increase the population of Sydney will exceed a million in less than 22 years.

Judge Moule, of the ‘lnsolvency Court, has received a letter warning him that he is “first favorite for the bullet stakes,” and advising him to run stifiy adding: “You will be very stiff before long, make no mistake.” ADVERTTSING AUSTR ALIA. The Minister for External Affairs has arranged for the jirinting and distribution in the United Kingdom of 50,000 copies of a twelve-page paper dealing with Australian affairs.- The publisher will also deliver illustrated lectures.

[Admiral Sir Day Hort Bosanquet i.s 65 years of age, and was command-er-in-chief on tlio West Indian station 1904-6, at Portsmouth in 1906, and. earlier, in the East Indies. He entered the nayy in 1857.]

Some loose straw in tlio ’tween decks of the s.s. Moeraki was found to be on fire on Saturday morning, but was quickly extinguished by a patent extinguisher.
