The death occurred fit 1.30 - n Monday morning of Mrs. John S* r 'ddy, wife of Mr. Speddy, Burnvicw station, Wainui,. a very cod resident ol tho colony. She arrived with her father, Air. Bruce, in 1840, and settled at the liutt, and married and went to live at Wainui before any other white people. She had been there over 45 yours. She '••ayes a dirge number of daughters and three •sons, and is survived bv her i neon ml, who is 80 year's of ago, and still hale and hearty. The family is -veil ki own amongst the Hawke’s Bay ri.i holders. mid the deceased was "jgaly respected. Slio will he buried in the private cemetery at Burn.dew morrow afternoon.
