POVERTY BAY CLUB

The double sculling races for Mr. C. Morse’s trophies were continued last night, when four heats in the second -round were decided. R. McGuffieand P. Fischbach (4sec) v. J. McConnell and J. Bragge (14 sec.). —This was a rather easy win for the former pair, who quickly overhauled their opponents, and won by a couple of lengths. C. Somervell tand W. Fitzgerald (Bsec) v. T. Parker -and J. O’Neill (lOsec). —An excellent race, Somervell just winning by a hare length. B. Karton and H. Holschier (18sec) v. W. Pritchard and G. Douglas (Gsee). —The former pair took full! advantage of their handicap, and paddled in easy winners. A. Pritchard and J. McKenzie ((Fee) v. C. Winter -and J. Malone (3sec). —Tin's race provided one of the best contests seen on the -river for a long time, and after a most exciting finish the first-named crew was adjudged the winner by Bft. To-night, T. Sheen -and P. Grogan (Isec) meet M. -Sceats and C. Clark (7sec)yand C. Somervell and W. Fitzgerald (Bsec) meet A. Pritchard and J. McKenzie (Gsec). The first of these events is the last heat in the second round, and -the latter contest commences the third round. R. McDuffie and P. Fish bach have -a bye in this round, and the winners of the last heat in the second round meet Karton and Holschier on Monday night, leaving the semi-final for Tuesday, and the final for Wednesday night. *
