CONSTANTINOPLE, Nov. 30
Despite Count Pallavicini’s threat to take unlimited leave the Young Turks and the Government are afraid to coerce the porters to load and unload Austrian ships at Constantinople and Salonika. The Grand Vizier invited tho heads of the porters’ and boatmen’s guilds to confer with him. They declined to discuss the boycott until Austria changes her attitude.
THE SITUATION SERIOUS. A RUPTURE FEARED. (Received Nov. 30, 10.5 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 30. The “Times’ ” Stamboul correspondent reports that the tension between Austria and Turkey is unmistakeably serious, and that Count Pallavicini’s departure would mean a complete rupture.
A MONTENEGRIN NOTE. DEMANDS COMPENSATION—AUSTRIA REFUSES. (Received Nov. 30, 10.5 p.m.) CETTINJE, Nov. 30. Montenegro handed a note to the Austrian representative at Cettinje, claiming the cession of Spezza, besides other compensation. Austria refused the note, declaring that Montenegro is not empowered to make representations regarding the Berlin Congress.
