Dr. Carr, Archbishop of Melbourne, was received at an audience by the Pope, who expressed himself gratified for the receipt of £2OOO as Peter’s lienee from the clergy and faithful of Melbourne. He also thanked the Bishop of Ballarat for a donation of £IOOO, and the Archbishop of Hobart •for a generous offering.
