NELSON, Nov. 30. On the night of November 13tli a~ lire was discovered in an outhouse at Mr. Herbert Maitland’s residence in I mralgar Street under very suspicieu.s circumstances, as there had been a number of outbreaks within a short space of time. Much uneasiness was occasioned. As a result of police investigations regarding tho fire mentioned, Margaret Larkin, a girl 16 years of age, employed by Mr. Maitland as a domestic servant, was v. terday arrested on a charge of arson, feiic has confessed to the police that she committed the crime in order to got out of doing the next dav’s washes- Accused was brought before the Eourt to-day, and remanded on bail for a week.
