In tlie mgteh Australian League versus Northern Union, Devereux scored l eari,’y. Messenger failed to convert. The Northerners shortly after equalised the score. Fierce play followed, until the Northerners were penalised, enabling Messenger to kick a goal. Holloway then secured a, try but Messenger’s shot at goal feii":;. On resuming, the Northerners, despite their playing two men short owing to injuries, scored two tries, but just upon time Messenger kicked another penalty goal.
