There was a large audience present. Mr. Carroll’s address dealt chiefly with jparochiai’. matters, and referring to the dairying industry ho said it should be en-» couraged. A vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Vaughan, and seconded by Mr. Sprott, was accorded to both candidates.
Mr. W. Lissant Clayton on .Saturday evening, in the Morcro School, addressed the electors of Morere and surrounding district. Mr. Reynolds presided over a meeting which was one of the largest ever held in Morere, many settlers coming 10 or 15 miles to hear the candidate. Frequent applause endorsed Mr. Clayton’s criticisms of tlie policy of the present administration, and his outline of the Opposition policy and suggestions of much-needed reforms were listened to with close and appreciative attention. After several questions had been answered, a vote of thanks to the candidate was proposed by Mi-. J. L. Brown, and was carried with much enthusiasm. During his Wairoa trip Mr. Clayton has been assured by competent informants of both shades of political opinion that he is certain of the hearty support of a very largo body of electors from WhareVata to Mohaka, including Wairoa and Frascrtown.
