Robert Harris, an American negro, was charged _ at tho Police Court this afternoon with assaulting Sidney Thomas Poole by biting him oh the cheek so as to cause him actual bodily harm. In outlining the case for the prosecution, Sergeant- Hendry said that the accused was cook on a coastal steamer, and the victim of the assault was fireman in the same boat. Harris had gripped Poole in Ip’s arms and bitten a piece out of his cheek. Harris admitted that he had “used his teeth,” but said he had done so in sdlf-defeuce, as he had been assailed from every side. The accused was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment. .. -
