HOCKEY.

A pleasing little function was held on Thursday evening in the British Empire Hotel, when the members of the West End Hockey Club met together and were each presented with a handsome silver brooch as a memento of the Club's success in winning the Poverty Bay Hockey Association’s championship shidld for the season 1903. The brooch is artistically designed—a silver shield, encircled by a laurel wreath, the shield being suitably inscribed. These mementoes were given and presented by an officer of the club, who was most heartily applauded, and thanked for his generous and handsome gift, and for the appreciative interest he took in his club.
