CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
OFFICERS ELECTED
A meeting of the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce was held at the Farmers’ Union Club rooms yesterday afternoon. Mr. .J. Townley occupied the chair, and there was a large attendance. The chairman said the business before the meeting was to elect the officers. Air. J. W. Bright nominated Air. John Townley us president, and said it would be hard to find a gentleman who would make such an excellent president as Air. Townley.
Air. A. F. Kennedy seconded the motion, which was carried unanitmouslv.
Air. AY. Petrie was nominated for the office of .vice-president, but declined to accept the position us his movements wonf.d be uncertain for some time. He proposed Air. A. F. Kennedy for the office, and Air. Kennedy was elected.
The following committee was appointed:—Messrs J- AY. Bright. AY. A. O’Aleara, F. AY. .Riaeli, R. Johnson. T. E. Tonoyclift’e. and Burton.
ATr. Traill was unpointed lion, secretary, and Air. L. Alaude auditor to the Chamber.
The annual subscription was fixed at £1 Is, and it was decided that the Chamber shall meet quarterly.
