King Edward, will be •07 years of ago on Monday next, vember 9ih. _ A The event will be celebrated in Gisborne by a shooting competition, under the "auspices of the Poverty Bay Rifle Asociation on the Alakauri range, and a re-union of old settlers or the Bay will be held at Patutahi. A cricket match, betweens teams representing the Poverty Bay and Motu districts will be held at Alotu; the Salvation Army will hold a. picnic on AA'aiuui beac-h: and in the evening a social in aid of the funds of _ the Maternity Home will be held in the jpGarrLson Hall,. There will be bowl- ■ ing on the greens of the Gisborne and Turaugantii Bowling Clubs, and tennis on the AYhataupoko and Gisborne Tennis Clubs’ courts. The school children will be granted a whole holiday, and the bank-, public offices, and shops will be closed all day.
