AUCKLAND, Nov. 4. The decision of the ißoard. of Conciliation in the recently-heard claims of the Auckland Operative Bakers’ and Pastrycooks’ Union, was given this afternoon. In brief, it was unanimously decided that the Gisborne district-should be cut out and that two awards should be made, one for the town and suburbs and the other for the country (outside n 15 imlos’ radius); that nine hours should be a day’s .work, including half-an-hour for breakfast. The main provisions of the previous award were retained, tlie chief alteration being ip both town and country, in ion increase of th'o wages of third hands to £2 7s 6d per week, and the three hours’ reduction in tlio week’s work from 54 to 51. As regards holidays, Empire Day was substituted for the Prince of Wales’ Birthday. These recommendations come into force on Docomber 4, 1908, /apd yemaiu in force-for two - / ~ ;
