Mr. Coulter, Deputy Postmaster of Canada, was,a passenger by the s.s. Manama en route to Melbourne. In an interview ho stated that his mission to Australia was in connection ivith the All-Red route or an improved mail: service between Canada and Australia. Ho had been specially deputed by the Canadian Government to try and induce thedifforent Governments' interested'in the matter to act :in unison Avitli Canada in approaching the Imperial Government upon the question of subsidy. He Avould not say anything about the Canadian proposal until he had placed it before the Federal Government, and avould not deal Avith details until the broad question of policy bad been settled. Canada Avas anxious to hai'e the matter settled. He was confident that New Zealand would be included hi the scheme, but could not say Avhether or not the vessels of the All-Red service would call at Queensland.
